Meet Our Staff
David Speakman is the campus minister for RUF at Davidson College. He
is a graduate of Davidson College, class of 1996. After teaching Latin
and coaching wrestling and tennis in Nashville for three years, David
entered Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO, where he earned
a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) and has completed his course work for a
Master of Theology (Th.M.). Upon his ordination in the Presbyterian
Church in America in the spring of 2003, David, his wife, Margaret Ann,
and his daughter, Mary Gray, retu
rned to Davidson College to begin this
work of RUF on campus.
Most importantly, the best thing that has ever happened to David is meeting Margaret Ann at Davidson and taking wedding vows with her on a hot day in August of 1998. Margaret Ann is also a 1996 graduate of Davidson. She is an excellent mother by calling, and when she is not meeting with Davidson students, volunteering at church, or making our house a restful and hospitable place, she also is a pediatric intensive care nurse at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.
Technically, Samuel and Mary Gray are not on staff with RUF; however they remain a vital part of our team. They love Davidson college students and are thankful for such fun and creative friends!!!

Mary Grace Giles is the intern for the female students at Davidson. She graduated from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (better known as Virginia Tech) in 2008. While at VT, she earned a degree in Human Development with a minor in Psychology. She was raised in Charlottesville, Virginia where her loves for apple picking, farmer's markets, and James Monroe were nurtured. Her parents will soon be making the move to the country music capital of the world, Nashville, Tennessee, as her sister finishes out her last year in the leprechaun capital of the world, Ireland.
